I was just about to post this after watching/listening. That Playstation sound was a nostalgia bomb, perked my ears right up.

I've been doing this technique where I convert and resample my samples to give it a different sound.

So first I find my sample either through the "program" or "trim" window. I press open window and hit the convert tab. Then I scroll to resample and open window. Then I change the Hz from 44000hz to around 42000hz. Then I change the bit from 24 to 12 bit. Press do it and voila!

I advise using this technique on small chops, kicks, snares, etc. When you convert longer samples it takes a hella long time.

shout outs to maarten beats for this one.

Got my head nodding.
I'd say in terms of the drum patterns you've pretty much nailed it.
I'm no expert, but as constructive criticism I'd say it was the accompanying music that made it sound less like authentic boom bap.
Perhaps try a more minimal approach to the other sounds.

Short chops of piano riffs & horns with subtle drops & variations kind of sums up the boom bap style to me, although that just kind of sounds dated now days, but using a limited amount of sounds and some how managing to make it sound interesting and not repetitive.

Anyway I thought all those beats were nice, so big up :smoker: !

Ok. This is going to be my last one. Thanks guys for the tips. Especially for introducing me to grap luva and damu the fudgemunk!
