new from arturia??

Damn this thing looks crazy - gotta have one

I cant view videos because im hard at work obviously but looking at the specs

Is this a standalone unit or do you need a pc for it? Judging from the back of it its standalone?

I was thinking about that too. It's a tough choice. I'd like full size keys and more controls. But I also love the sequencer on the Micro as well as the mod matrix. Either way, both synths are totally worth the money.

This is a standalone analog synth. No presets, and no computer needed. Just real analog circuitry and a lot of ways to connect it to old analog gear, MIDI controllers, and MIDI through USB to your DAW.

There's a lot you can do with this synth. The possibilities are endless. The sequencer is a lot of fun. When you add a delay pedal, it's on another level.

Reverbs are awesome too. I have an iStomp pedal with all the virtual pedals included... tons of reverbs and delays, and all sorts of effects. It's my Swiss Army Knife of effects pedals.

I just picked up a MicroBrute last Wed/Thurs. I absolutely love the thing.

I've spent ample time with a MiniBrute but, I must say, I prefer the Micro for several different reasons but it's just a matter of personal taste.

The patching is fun... I really like making strong but boring sounds and then seeing how crazy they get with just a single patch cable. The step sequencer is a big bonus after I set them up with some of my own scale progressions/arps/etc.

The size is a HUGE bonus. It is absolutely wonderful to put my 1K and MicroBrute in a small backpack with just headphones and ONE 8" instrument cable and know that I am ready to roll.

This is also a sweet, slutty bonus but the 1K and the MicroBrute look SEXY side by side!

MiniBrute SE swaps the arpeggiator for a sequencer...

Simon, I saw those when they were announced. But I thought they cost more than they do.

I sent the MicroBrute back to get replaced. The pitch wheel was defective. I'll have a new unit by the end of the week. Nova Musik were very easy to deal with.

Two defective units...

This one's got a bad pot and the keys sit at different heights. I sent that one back. Now I'm waiting for the third unit to arrive. If this one's got any defects, I'll get a refund. I like this synth. But some of them are built really shitty. This makes me question whether or not the MiniBrute is assembled in the same sweatshop... and I don't wanna go through all the hassle finding out. So I'm thinking about buying something else if this doesn't work out.

I have heard they are shit with support/repairs, but at least with something like the brutes, they can just ship out a whole replacement unit.

Doesn't help if the replacement units have problems as well.

I've read a few threads on Arturia's forums about defective units. So I wasn't surprised to get another defective unit. Hopefully this don't end up with 3 strikes on account of bad quality control. The synth is great otherwise. But the defect rate makes me lose confidence, whether I end up with a perfectly good unit that fails after the warranty expires. I don't wanna end up with that kind of a headache.

Another defect... same problem as the first unit.
Bad news for Arturia... 3 strikes and you're out.
Good news for me... I'll get a full refund through Nova Musik. They were good to deal with.
I'm not sure what I'll buy next. But it won't be anything from Arturia.
