I don't think you can automate stuff from within program edit mode.

In main mode it is possible to assign Q-links to a pad, and then to a parameter. So you can assign Q-Link 1 to change the Tuning (pitch) of PadA01, then Q-Link 2 can be assigned to PadA01's filter cutoff, or to another pad etc. etc.

Using the Q-Links like that lets you record and save automation live.

Unfortunately there is no way to record audio while manipulating a program live. I've actually made a feature request for this functionality (I think I called it background recording).

I like this idea because you can just tweak a sound and then chop out the good parts for building FX kits etc...

The one thing that works is that you can play the program with an external keyboard while recording but no way to manipulate parameters.
