Aight I feel ya, make saving every time part of your routine...

@celtic: few things here : it would"ve suited you if you gave any feedback to my song, but guess your focus is mainly on yourself....."cheers"
i might be moaning but have valid arguments and the end of the day I have love and respect for my fellow mpc-users and their opinion...also why post another beat?? Its over?? We both showed we could make beats, which u seem to doubt in your original post :

I don't think we could even compare ourselves not even closely! with premo or Pete Rock...and if those legends missed features or witness bugs and crash, they wouldn't wanted to see those problems fixed??? So if u had succes once, and u have skills, u don't need fully functional gear that does what it promises??and maximize its potential?? Yeah your right they won't stop making beats neither do I, but trust me, they will try to get it fixed, they just don't need to do it through posting on a forum, cuz they are legends, building on the legacy of the "Moaners" that came before them...
if your problem was me moaning while not making beats u would've had a valid point but my YouTube and sound cloud proves different, cuz i do use my gear a lot, and just want it to perform at the max of its potential and simple bugs being approached head on....where lotta times at least it SEEMS the akai team is lacking that, while peeking with new hardware and marketing......
would've been nice if u was like, aight u might moan but at least u actually use your gear, and put it to good use, which validates your moaning whether u agree or not
(if u like i could also make a entirely sample based beat) (and i didn't really like the mint-beat tho") also notice u only make sample based music, so the things i was "moaning" about (vst's and such) do not seem to apply to your workflow....so i don't get your critique... And end of the day i want the best possible software/hardware combo/functionality.... So i make arguments, b!tch a little, with as only goal to improve OUR software and OUR music..... So your welcome..

They must be re-writing this thing from the ground up, cause its takin a long time for 1.7. Micro updates should be out on a monthly basis at least. Major updates should take from 90 to 180 days. You know if this software ever reaches 2.0; you better have your check ready cause it probably won't be free.

Small development team, they want to run updates through a beta test cycle before releasing them, not really sure what purpose 'monthly at least' 'micro updates' would serve, besides wasting development time.

It has been 105 days since the last (1.6) update.

Anything .1, .2, .3, etc should be released often. any 2.0, 3.0, etc should not take more than 180 days to release.

Whats the point of beta testers if everyone will become one eventually. ;)

How dare you!

but yeah I think I had a dream (seriously) of 1.7 and it was totally restyled...then it crashed and woke up screaming  that last part is bullshit, but the first isn't what I do remember is seeing a lot of blue in the software....maybe that trigger finger look is coming... almost out of popcorn by the way

They wouldn't be rewriting everything, they would need to do some rewriting for how the mixing is handled and how automation is handled, but that doesn't mean rewriting everything. Software is inherently flexible, if a development team is professional and following 'good practice' it is simple to change things on the fly, add features, tweak features etc.

It's ridiculous to expect/demand super strict development cycle times. As a user it's easy to say ".1 .2 .3" updates should be super quick but as a developer the reality is that these things take as long as they take. I really feel like it's a bratty attitude - think about if you're hiring a contractor. They can give you an initial quote of how much it costs, but until they get into your house and start actually working on the problem they can't be certain how long the repair will take. Software development is ongoing, you are constantly repairing old problems while also building new features and making them play nice with the pre-existing structures, that's a reality of software and any complaining or ideas about how it should be won't change that.

From a programming aspect, Im no programmer by far but it took me 16 weeks to create a basic "Pong" game with no bugs as a class project. As soon as you fix one thing , you break 7 others. Until you understand the work and time that goes behind this sort of thing, it's easy to say hand it to us and get antsy. I have the upmost respect for programmers and their patience. One wrong line of code and the other 75,000 lines mean nothing. Am I excusing Akai, no, I own a REN, Studio and a 4K but I use the machines for what they are. My setup has been pretty flawless. I took all the plugins out that were causing problems on load up for the mpc and now use them in the DAW only thus making the mpc only work with the plugins that it likes. YMMV.
