MPC 1000 footswitch 1 not working, 2 works fine.

I cannot get footswitch 1 to function and have tried the following.

I tried several foot switches, and all of them function just fine in the footswitch 2 jack, but when plugged into footswitch 1 jack do nothing.

I have reset the unit and installed JJ0S1 wich did not remedy my problem either.

I disassembled the unit and cleaned with denatured alchohol the ribbon cable contacts going to/from the CF card board (which also contains both footswitch jacks) then re-seated it in it's connector.

I then used a continuity tester with fine probes to test the actual circuit with switch inserted. Testing from the actual jack contacts on the card, and where the ribbon connector terminates on the main board, I was able to get both footswitch jacks to pass. Circuit was able to be made/interrupted with presses on the switch.

This is where I could use some advice on how to proceed. I REALLY NEED BOTH FOOTSWITCHES TO WORK. sorry for yelling, but from what I understand from reading posts is that not many people require both footswitches for their normal workflow.

I play hammond B3 with my left hand doing basslines, right hand doing melody/chords. I use the MPC1000 for beats, but have no hands free to operate it while playing. I want to have footswitch 1 be PLAY/START so I can start my loops over, on whatever beat I want, and have footswitch 2 be STOP. Some old Yamaha Organs I play have this beat start/stop footswitch function, and I have become very good at utilizing it to improvise arrangements on the fly solo.

I want to be able to use the MPC with a B3 solo and require both footswitches to make it happen, can anybody help?

probably dry solder in the jacks more than the ribbon side. Though you have continuous current the jack might be a bit prone to lift when you insert a plug into it and hence move it. So even though current passes it might not when you plug in a footswitch. I have kinda same problem when I have a phono jack in the footswitch it can trigger when i hit MPC chassis so to me its shorting from the solder joint getting tripped. I have yet to open it up and look as I have am doing other things but its on the list to look at.

Re-flowing the solder had no effect. A tech friend of mine says it might be the IC that has failed. No to try replacing that.

I doubt it is IC as it would mean both jacks arnt working, as one IC services both right.
So think its dry solder on jack connection to PCB
