That's not even all of it. Maybe about half.
Fact is I have almost 100% never got rid of anything and I've been collecting a long time.
Something eventually will have to give. :|

Probably the floor

You ever seen that show Hoarders?

I keed.

Now's the time I have to admit to my overflowing storage lock up.

No just kidding. I am very aware it could very soon be bordering on obsession.

yeah its a mess but meh, it works. microkorg is in bits and you cant see what is in racks or under stuff but it works for me. need risers. risers and synth rack. and a poly synth comming i think. SPDIF from mastering unit to mac mini was best $25 i have spent in ages. Image

Kind of like a episode of hoarders. But in a good way.

Jimmie, how you handling all the multiple outputs you have there? Patchbay? What mixer you using with your set up?

Curious as im in a similar position but yet to adopt the patchbay approach (I'm using a submixer).

Nice , clean gear you have there looks well maintained. :worthy:

With this Clint:

Allen & Heath GS3.
I could do with a 32 track desk as I'm always juggling 8 channels on this.
But the GS3 routing is brilliant.
I'd recommend it but I've always had intermittent issues with a few Group channels and Aux Returns.
I've been through and recapped and maintained some of it but you have to be super careful with the pcb tracks 'cos they lift if you just breath on 'em.

The patchbay on top of the DX7 is there because I've started using it for the Aux sends.
The GS3 has 4 Aux sends and a Channel Cue send but I need more (chorus, delay, flanger, reverb, compressor sidechain 1, compressor sidechain 2, gate key input, analogue synth external in 1, etc, etc). I'm forever switching around my Aux sends, hence the patchbay.

Cheers. I try. I always keep my gear covered in sheets when not in use.

@jimmie

I guess a 32 channel desk is a good place to start. Sometime wish I'd kept the Mackie D8B, but space had become an issue for me. Currently have the Onyx 1640 firewire, but am unimpressed by the short faders, lack of ADAT inputs for my MPC4000, and lack of meterbridge (sighs).

@kneebone: very nice setup! really broad range of classics you have there.

how do you like the yamaha msp-7? these monitors are not seen that often.

these are also my personal monitors of choice and i am using them since 2008 and still am very satisfied how they sound and translate. have been using them in treated and nontreated (smaller) rooms and mix mostly at lower volumes. the only thing i do not like about them is the blast of air from the vents at higher volumes, but i choose those front ports for a reason when i bought them instead of hs-80 or mackies at that time.

peace, jo

I only ever play them at low/mid volume because I live in a terraced house and wouldn't feel right playing them loud 'cos the neighbours would hear every bump.

I like using them and find that my tracks translate well over different speaker systems.
They lack deep bass though, but I actually don't mind too much and use my headphone's to double-check.

Before I got them I used to mix very subby tracks that really only work well on club sound systems, (e.g. those pure 808 kicks cannot be heard on laptop speakers) but now I mix so that my kicks have more harmonics and distorted properties to bring out higher frequencies, so a wider range of speakers can hear the "perceived" bass and kick.
Maybe it's just my skills getting better. I dunno, but I like the msp7's.

I did a lot of research before I got them and scored these second-hand. One in good condition and the other a bit battered.. but works well enough.
