EB16 anybody using it how does sound ? is it worth the money

thinking about pulling the trigger on one these i need some feedback before i do

if you track each voice out one at a time anyway then you don't really need it. it can be a useful touch but it's hard to justify its cost.

i always like taking any gear i have to it's max and i know how gear has advanced these days but i always come back to my hardware when i wanna get shit done so i think ill swoop one up .off topic but as a keyboard player i have yet to find any virtual instrument to take the place of my hardware or any drum plugin take the place of my 2000xl

i ve only used one a couple of times on a friends mp that had it, but for me considering that for the same price u could get another rack sampler such as a yamaha a line or something else i cannot justify it personally. If u r gonna get one at least get a s3200xl which can b had for roughly the same price as the efx board itself and has one inside anyways. But thats just my 2.

EB's are easy to get for around $100 if you are patient and know how to shop.
The built in effects are about workflow, the doing in the DAW doesn't fit a lot of ways people like to work.
Unfortunately neither does getting an external unit.

Once you get a understanding of how the EB works you can get pretty good mileage out of it.
It's just a little awkward in how it works and you eventually come up with preset setups that you know work for various needs.

The real drawback to the EB was it was an option so many users never had it which prevented Akai improving on it.

the real advantage of having fx in the box is for live shit... yeah it's handy for production.... but really damn handy for live.

Do I like the fx? not really compared to computer based fx...... but that aint an option for live mpc work so as previously mentioned...... you can really get good mileage out of it.

I have two of 'em, Both in 2KXLs
I prefer using outboard at mixdown (I have 100% hardware set up) but the real advantage I find is The fact you can save and reload your FX settings with your aps file.
Means you can reload a project and the effects are all there set as you left them.
