from mpc4000 to ren

I have a 4000 that I had for about 8 yrs, I am still keeping it but I really like the Ren, I am using an i7 pc win7, and it has been stable so far, I like the way works with the vst, I copied all my mpc 4000 kits to my hard drive and work in the ren, I did an A B comparison with the sound and it was the same loaded the same kit at the same rate 24bit 48.000 and the sound was pretty much the same, I also like that I can just export my tracks, instead of tracking out through the mixer if I choose, I can say so far pretty good piece, like I said I won't sell my 4000 so i can have a different flavor out the box from time to time but I think the Ren is great for me, I just use it like my analog mpc, I have it on its own computer and my DAW on a separate one

Any problems loading your sequences from the 4000? I tried loading a few sequences and the programs were out of order.

It's cool and all but the mpc 4000 is definitely not analog. You either meant standalone or vintage.

if you're not strapped for cash it is better to add to your gear collection than take away from...especially when switching to DAW based setup, from time to time you'll just want to sit down with mpc, pair of headphones and some samples, I know I did

It can't be wrong since he kept his 4k. He can try i a few weeks and go back if he wants...but why would he do that ? 4k is nice but it is what it is while the Ren is evolving and going to surpass..and already is better when working with a computer.

Right now I like them both,I haven't tried loading sequences from the 4000 yet, I came up on mpcs, I like both the Ren and the 4000, when I want to work with my soft synths vsts, I use the Ren, when I want to work with my analog(standard) gear, fantom, turbo phatt and analog mixer I use my 4000 set up, and play with outboard gear sounds, so it all works well for me, I never liked sequencing in any of the DAWs, but the ren sequencer is very familiar for me, I know there are software out there that do more , but this works for me, yes there are some features I wish it had but for the most part i'm good, can't speak for anyone else

This is true. It's also true that today you could do everything with any piece of software, basically. However, the reason I've kept hardware is the vibe thing. I don't always get vibes from using Ableton Live even though I could do everything with it. Sometimes it IS nice to put some dope samples on a memory stick, plug that into the MPC 4000, sit on the floor (yeah, I dig it) and rock on. Feels good to get away from the laptop land every now and then.

Sitting with the headphones is a 500 or 1k thing since they are small enough to sit on a sofa with.

I do agree that people should stop selling gear to fund new gear, in many cases they regret getting rid of something.
