My Chain :

Kicks eq'd sent to bus 1 then compressed

Snares eq'd sent to bus 2 then compressed

Bass eq'd compressed and limited then filtered so it wouldn't clash with the kicks frequency

Samples eq'd compressed sent to bus 3 with a subtle limiter due to various edits on the main track.

Master Bus Eq, Waves SSL compressor to tie it all together.

Whole track then payed out of Samplitude into a Zoom Sampletrack to get the overall vibe, that went into Samplitude to be mastered.

Stereo enhancer (Cos something really weird happend and I lost the side, gonna have to look into it) then a limiter, I solated the bass from 80 hz down and made mono, Isolated the Mid and widened it and boosted a little, boosted the side to the same volume, then sidechained the side to the bass to make the whole track groove.

I'm gonna save my voting for when the other tracks get officially added, but Twisted brother-- your arrangement and baseline are too dope... don't much like the drum arrangement, but still... you got that sound with no synths? I assume so..and dope!

I like the simplicity of Oskarr's and mike-a-veli's too..

I LOVED how yours started out jimmie, but the main portion of it I wasn't a fan...but still dope work

ran out of time and just posted where I was at. I did this in a day.

New workflows at the same time as this battle so I am sorry it is long, but its new workflows and so am explaining how I am now using new things in different workflows.

I listen to track for a day and then decided it was gay as and needed the house treatment. listened to it the day before a bit, then next day to work on it.

First the sample in workflow. I used logic first just to flex the song so it is in time and EQed it to. It has huge tempo changes in it so if I wanna dj with it, I need those stoner 70s musicians to stay on the beat. Cos that was what I was gonna do, burn it onto CD and put into a CDJ player and then scratch it in and out. No time but for that, but I got it for later. Two EQs though. First EQ flattens it so to speak, a correction for the recording devices bias, then another EQ to to brighten or enliven it, and remove peaks. Subtle stuff, only a few dB at most usually. Now I have MPC in USB mode as I do this, and this means I can export it from logic straight to MPC card with out having to copy it from where I saved it. This is a new thing I am doing and think its cool this way, and saves time to if I export it straight to MPC instead of harddrive then to MPC.

I just bought a SPDIF/TOSLink cable so I got friggan laser beams now for new set up. Totally new way of recording my live mixes. I have 24 channel mixer going out into a 4 track mastering recording unit, and I monitor this with monitors out and also SPDIF sends mix to computer and logic. I use 2 tracks on the 4 track recorder unit and so it acts as a hi bit rate sound card with digital out, as copying off the 4 track hard drive is time consuming, so this way with the SPDIF cable I can side step that step and still get a digital recording. That is pretty cool to but the draw back is I got to spend another $25 to get another SPDIF cable to have in and out from computer. I swap it for now. I also have no idea how it sounds, its new set up so I need time to listen, but seems fine.

I use all outs of MPC and have changed up workflow again and decided to use them as mono sends for different parts, so claps, bass kick, samples, and hi hats all get their own track on the mixer with EQ. Was using them as stereo but am over that and use mono now.

Live mix is all hardware, so no DAW. I use one compressor for parallel compression and that is fed from Aux outs 1-2, and mixed back in as another 2 tracks so it can be mixed in and EQed. Same with an FX send that is going to a reverb fed from Aux sends 3-4. Again returned to mix via another 2 tracks, EQed and of course this set up means I can send a little or a lot to them.

Master stereo bus has another compressor on the insert that it has I/O and a side chain input to. So I/O is inserted to mixer master bus and I feed sidechain from subgroup sends. so then I can send any track (kick in this case) to sidechain so I can make any sound go there and act as sidechain trigger.

Then record live to DAW via 4 track as I said above, a little EQ and then export. I usually master it a bit but only a little EQ and normalise. Done. No editing after out from MPC, So it is live sound and loud it seems ok.

And yet another new part of my workflow set up means I can use DAW to monitor Frequencies as I make stuff because I have EQ analysis and meters open as it is monitoring 4 track out via SPDIF from big 24 track mixer live. so I get real time Freq analysis as I play live.

Yeah cos I rushed it and did not use monitors or headphones when I had it in the DAW I EQed it wrong to sound good on crappy mp3 players and iphones instead of proper balanced EQ to make it sound good on everything, so next day the hihats are too loud. That is a drawback if you do not give yourself enough time. You do not get to sit back and listen to it properly and take a break and listen again.

SP1200 separate outs into Allen & Heath GS3 desk.
EQ'd on GS3.
Insert compressor on one channel.
Aux send FX: Hohner RDM1000 delay, Lexicon PCM70, Roland RS09 chorus, spring tank.
dbx 118 compressor on group 1+2.
FX into group 5+6 with a sidechained compressor across it.
dbx 500 bass processor on group 7+8.
Urei/JBL 7110 compressors on stereo mix out.

Recorded live tweaking and fader-ridiing into Adobe Audition from the GS3 stereo mix out and then chopped the live mix down into a ruff arrangement.
Then, Waves API 2500 for level matching of finished, edited track and L2 for an overall volume boost without crushing it too much.

I only used the sample given for all sounds.

My track still isn't in the group.
I've tried five times in the last six hours and it's still not there!

maybe you missed deadline? I don't know. But you have nicer gear but very similar method to me, hardware mixed down live to 2 track to DAW, then a bit of polish. ah and you have more sub group outs to with that desk which is nice.

Cool. Yeah, suits me. Been using a desk and mixing down live to a stereo mix for years now. You gotta get a good mix/sound and then commit to a live performance, 'cos there aint no recall button

I don't have the powers to put in Soundcloud group as my mod powers only work here lol...but I am sure that Obi will fix it.

Thanks man. I'm not using any synths. Sorry for not explaining how i made it yesterday but had no time and i was in a rush to post the beat till deadline. I wanted to do some more things but next time About mixing the beat as i said early in the forum i started making beats several months ago and my knowledge is at a starting level. After i learnt most of the main functions of my equipment i understood that mixing the beat is the hardest part and very important. Every time i finish something i experiment with different settings so i don't have any chain which i use every time.
Used kicks ,snares, claps from two russian songs equalized them and set ADSR and Filters on the sample and bassline. Limiter and eq on the master. Usually i listen to the beat on several headphone sets and speakers but it was late so i mixed it on my headphones. I wish i had more time to listen and clean some unwanted sounds but for me this is long hard process and not leading to success every time

Where's it say midnight, the new fax says battle ends Friday Vote goes up Friday, I try and wait as long as I can, and try and check here as Soundcloud is being really weird, one major change you cant allow downloads when uploading in the new version, theres others as well, I do everything in classic mode as the new one is off it's nut. And I can't fix it, I'm in the same boat as everyone else.

And remember we're voting on the best finished sound not the best beat, it's what PK asked for.
I've edited the vote so we know who Jimmie is, there were 2 votes for Kapps so if you guys could put those back in, that would be cool, I think when we enter we need to put a link in, if this happens again which it will.
