mpc-1000 audio recording

Hi there,

I have a mpc-1000 with jjOS1 version 5. Can I record audio in while in a live performance? It looks like I have to STOP, then REC+PLAY, then STOP again and PLAY to be able to record 1 audio in track. Am I missing something here?

If it's the case, is there other jjOS that would enable me to record audio in while in OVERDUB + PLAY ?

loop window in XL, and 3 comes close, but no you can sample as sequence plays but you do have to stop when you stop sampling. So just stop once and then you can start again. Least I can in OS3. But yeah you can not sample and play with out stopping for that sample. It has always been like that, but loop player is something to look at for you.

Yeah I downloaded XL and I can see that there is the loop windows, where I can loop record and overdub, but I was hoping to be able to record while other sequences are playing at the same time, so the beat are playing, then I wanted to record a synth line audio out on top of the beat... I know I can record the midi and let it loop which controle the synth, which work great, but I would love to record the audio out of the synth so that I could layer that on top of some beats...

Would other MPC machine do that? Is it a limitation only of the mpc-1000 ? Is it a hardware limitation or it could be enabled on software?

no that is just the limitation of the MPC, it is the same for everyone and no JJ OS fixes this. I was sure that the sequence plays in loop mode though.
