So I'm starting to get into purely sample-based music and I keep hearing that the MPC is more of a sequencer, while the ASR-10 is more of a sampler.

But the MPC can sample, chop, sequence, too, right? And the MPC can edit pitch, apply filters, etc? Can I make a full beat on an MPC? What's the point of an ASR?

I'm specifically talking about the MPC-1000 which is the model I intend to get. This question also caters to my curiosity on how the two can complement each other. I just don't see why people just use an MPC alone since it has a much better sequencer and also a sampler.

THanks in advance

people do use only mpcs.

not much point of an asr if you have an mpc. mpc is smaller and more up to date w/better storage and interface options. asr has full keyboard and other minor things that mpc doesnt have.

you can make deeper patches on the asr but who does that really?
