Q link filtering question

I just got my MPC4000 last week and I've got a few bits up and running. I've assigned samples to the pads and I've got the q Link assigning working - except for the Cut off and Resonance.

When I select one of them as the parameter and then test with the associated knob - nothing! It doesn't seem to respond at all. It's fine with the pan, volume & fx etc. Has anyone had this problem, or is the machine faulty, or I am just an idiot doing something wrong? Any light to shed would be cool!

Make sure your program actually has a filter assigned to it: when making programs (drumkits or instruments) from scratch, they will not have a filter assigned to them. Go to the program edit 1 page, switch editing to "all" (if you want your filter to work on the entire program) and select the filter type you want for that program. Then, go back and assign a Q-link to that part for cutoff and/or resonance.

This is the only thing I could think of (apart from a broken MPC), hope this helps!

he is right re: assigning a filter
but also make sure that you are in SEND Q Link page and nor RECEEIVE Q LINK page and
touch the pad under pad CNTRL. to make sure that the pad in question is the one you have a filter assigned to
This should work then after you do all these things

Thanks for the help guys. That's what the problem was - it's all working fine now

I'm sure it'll take a me a while to get used to the operating system and understanding the architecture more, but I can tell it's a beast!
