MPC 4000 top cover screws hindering erase and note repeat bu

Please help… i recently opened my mpc 4000 machine to upgrade memory and pads, when i go to put the unit back together the area near the erase/note repeat button get tight especially when i screw in the top four pad screws. i am probably missing some minor step, but i have been playing with this unit for three days and no success.

Check that all the buttons are aligned properly prior to faceplate reinstallation. The faceplate can also go down the wrong way - I usually have to wiggle the frontplate around a little while positioning it back to get it sitting right.

This is a very common issue with the 4000 and it can be caused by a number of things.

If you really can't get it to stop you can lightly file a mm or so off the plastic buttons central rod (the bit that pushes onto the tact)

Gents thanks for the prompt reply. but tsutek was spot on once i shaved of a bit from the point of the button making contact with the tact switch all was good thanks again.

I can't tell you how often I see 4000's and that left corner button does this.
