Hi there.
I have an MPC 500 and I am experimenting with my different options.
I have a software sequencer (the best free one I've found is Studio One - I can't afford anything else right now)
It allows me to send different tracks across different channels. This definitely works on my keyboard but when I try it on the MPC I run into an issue whereby it will only play on the currently selected track.
For example (in the software):
I have one track playing a beat sending to channel 1 and then I want another track playing the other program I've loaded on track 2 of the MPC which contains some samples. What happens is that both channel 1 and channel 2 go through one of the MPC tracks instead of both meaning they are all either playing the drum kit or the samples.
I have played about with setting the different tracks to different channels but this seems to just affect the midi out of the MPC and not the midi in.
Playing about with the soft-thru just creates madness with feedback - ie - the software triggers the MPC and then the MPC triggers the software which goes back round again in an infinite flanger effect.
Hopefully that makes sense. I know it's entry level but this is pretty normal midi stuff so I hope I'm just doing something wrong as opposed to just trying the impossible. But I will accept defeat if it's not doable.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and I appreciate any help or suggestions I can get.
Simon
