My 4K arrived today, but in bad shape.. Help!

With the price of a screen I can't see how I would have ever bid on a unit where the seller actually included a picture to show the screen was gone and said a new screen is easy to get.

That already adds a couple of hundred dollars to the cost of the unit before you even get it.

People keep talking about a partial refund how much of a refund is fair to the seller?
It can only be based on any other issues you found, not the screen.

it didnt come with the output expander as advertised, correct?

I feel your pain mate. I got a busted MPC 4k a few years back but thankfully I got my investment back minus shipping.

Well, if the jog wheel woulda worked and the 8out woulda been there, even with a barely working LCD I thought it woulda been worth it. I'm not too handy with the soldering so the busted jogwheel replacement is not something I'm looking forward to

But have been making a bunch of sequences with it already! Really love the MIDI timing and the pads feel surprisingly great. The busted LCD is workable enough once I memorize all the F-key functions (thank god for the PDF manuals!)

The timing is always dead on, unquantized playing never feels awkward. It's really strange because I've often had less than ideal experiences with playing unquantized into a sequencer, the loop start/end points in a sequence often seemed to not reproduce exactly as i heard during recording.. No probs with the 4k in this dept! And even 64th note stochasticks play back jus' perfect, regardless of tempo value.

One thing tho - how does one record note repeat jams on the 4k? Does the swing amount get recorded "as played" or will the swing remain dynamic forever (or at least until I save the MIDI data and reopen etc)? This is something i loved on the JJOS..

If I understand correctly, they will be dynamic forever. Just keep changing the values.

Thanks for the info. Guess I'll haveto record the MIDI data into another MIDI-recorder and move it back to the 4k whenever I need that.

Just copy a sequence. Edit the copy. Rename it unquantized or something like that.

I gotta say, replacing the LCD on the 4k is a ****. You have to file a plastic part to fit the new LCD and disassembling the LCD case is a major PITA

You've got my respect sir. The day my 4K arrived was like paradise. Came from 2500 to, I feel the 4K is the best MPC out there.

I agree with you, the 4k is a beast! Very pleased to have it working now, too bad time is against me in getting to use it as much as I'd like
