Look man, I ain't sayin maschine is shit but the seqr really is...of course that's an opinion. It is workable yes, but the moment you touch a mp you can't see why they do it that way!

Ok, the Maschine sequencer IS a lot different from the MPC.. the MP sequencer is straight forward.. it's like plug and play so to speak, very easy to use.

The Maschine sequencer, however, does have a learning curve. Your programs are called "Groups" and your tracks are called "Sounds". Your sequences are called "Scenes". Everything is different but everything has to be.. Akai was the first to do it so anybody after Akai can't be the exact same, obviously.

The Maschine sequencer isn't that bad.. it IS different.. and I would prefer the MPC sequencer for sure because that's the one I started out on and am most familiar with. Once Akai gets the Ren completely up to speed I will for surely bounce back but for right now F that waiting siht.

Akai were the first to do it ?
To do what invent the sequencer , invent tracks etc
But I suppose that's y no ones copied cubases drum track grid
To me the mpc looks very much like reason did way back
I'm not bothered about names of stuff as long as it has grid line , loops ,quantises etc

I agree mpc is very easy and simple but yeah not got time to wait about

Pads wrote:Well I picked up my Ren finally, like two weeks ago, and when I got home and opened the box my power cord was missing. So I obviously couldn't turn the Ren on to see if everything was operating fully.

The power cord is stashed in the underside of one of the styrofoam blocks. I thought mine was missing when I first opened my box too, but it was in a white box.

I just sent out my ren for repair. Got it when it first dropped. A couple months in the volume would crackle when adjusting knob. Since I use my motu 828mk2 for sound I just never used the RENs sound card. But in no way am I going to have a 1200 piece of gear remain broke before my guitar center warranty runs out. So I'm back on the XL and s950 for a couple weeks. Now I bet the damn update will drop while my gear is out.
The only other problem I have with the ren hardware is sometimes the pads do not light up. I don't realize it until I have been working on a seq. and look to the pads for reference to a hit. And nothing is lighting up. So if I go to the pad color screen turn on let's say green, then turn it back to back lit pads during play back it works when I'm back on main page. Not to big of a deal. Other then that my gripe has always been the mixer. Now I have just learned to work with it and it's the usual now. The ren has really grown on me the last year. I was trying to sell it for a 4000 back in the winter. Glad I didn't. Just wish I had enough coin to grab the 4000 too. So I'll let you all know how the guitar center insurance thing works out for me. Any body else have the volume crackle?
