Hello all,
In another forum someone asked if there was a way to do real time reverse with the mpc1k (something that could be recordable or something that could be controlled via MIDI). To my knowledge it's not possible. If you know something simplier and more efficient I didn't think of don't hesitate to share please. Here is a workaround to create a "fake" real time reverse effect.
We need two samples :
I only had this one at the root of my CF. I made a random start/end point selection. LOOP has to be ON.
Same sample but the black selection is in REVERSE. LOOP is ON too.
GPE screen
PLAY MODE = NOTE ON and release = 0 to use the layer crossfade switch function.
Aftertouch-Xfade1-2 ON with a value of 100 to prevent too much crossing between the two samples.
When padA01 is pressed and kept pressed slightly the first sample plays.
When padA01 is pushed strongly sample 2 plays.
By doing this it's possible to switch "on the fly" between something that plays in the normal direction and something that plays in reverse. It's recordable. It's not like having a turntable with a reverse function where we'd know the position of the sample but can be useful to give the illusion of a sudden forward/reverse effect. It's still the aftertouch function so it has to be done with care. I recommend using the FULL LEVEL BUTTON too.
