ok thanks
that's weird i get the 500 not responding at all if i put in a card that hasn't been formatted for Akai but i am new to this particular game so will try again
also getting some strangeness a couple of times which i may post in bug lists but haven't yet as it may be a ram thing but sometimes i get samples getting messed up like the are cutting out while i am doing other random things, it happened when i was trying out reverb on a different sound and once when i was doing some filter stuff again on a different sound
the samples are there but kind of out of phase or maybe doubled up?
anyone else getting this?

Truthfully, I use an SP-606 and the only way to successfully hot swap between the 500 is to use a 512mb card because thats the 606's max capacity. But better for the 500 because it can eat it up faster.

The 128mb card from Akai might be protected so its best to find a better and higher capacity because that card is an **** too that will keep uploading sunshine and dj set demo beats. If you like those sounds keep the card.

Best a 1gb or 512mb card to swap for the 404 and 500.

This also can be done with the 1000 and 2500.

thanks again
sorry i meant "any cf card" needed to be formatted for Akai mpc otherwise i don't even get a "do it" flash and cant navigate any folders from the 500 with a non mpc formatted card in but i will try again shortly..hopefully its just me being slow, am happy to sample between them and even better to get the Roland AD converters in the mix and cook it a bit more although i guess a couple of times and it will/may start to get crunchy..
