Exchange tips and tricks for the Akai MPC4000

Hey guys how can I prevent my pads from bleeding into each other when playing a chopped sample? To elaborate, I sampled a few seconds of something and chopped it amongst 8 pads. I have each sample set to "one shot" and have turned poly from 64 to 0. When striking one pad then jumping to another it still finishes the previous pad bleeding them together for a moment to which just sounds like a train wreck. Do I just need to go in and fine trim them better or does the 4k have a feature to do this? Thanks

For those who stumble here. Just set pads to "one shot" and lower poly to 1 and turn mute to 1 as well. This will enable you to jump from random pads without each sample bleeding into the other :P

Lol :-D as of right now only the 4k and the 500. I had a 2000 and a 2000xl but sold them recently. Starting to learn having multiple mpcs can screw your brain up! :hmmm:

It's pretty easy...
The hardest thing for me to learn is the mod matrix. If you are already a good synth programmer it should be natural. Congratulations, nice come up on the 4000

Thanks man I actually have had it for about a year now but I moved to a new place and hadn't played with it for a while and suprisingly I got it off eBay for under $1000 and it works fine. Only issue with it is the usb drive in the front doesn't seem to work. Other than that she runs perfect. Also I noticed if I was a little more patient I would have noticed my topic had been posted already lol :smoker:

Too bad the front USB is one of the things that really opens up possibilities to do some things that only the 4k does.
Maybe you should pop it off and hope for a loose connection.

What have you tried connecting to the front port that let you know it didn't work?
