MPC2500 - JJOS3 - Distorted audio on output 8

Hello!

Long time no see.

Just recently I updated my recording setup and now have plenty of inputs for tracking my MPC2500 thru the 8 individual outputs going into an RME interface.

I send 8 tracks, each on a dedicated out, to the interface. Everything works fine until I have something playing on track 8, going to output #8. On that track I get a (heavily) distorted sound. But that is not always the case. After some research I found out that the sound on that track gets distorted only when I use a filter on that sound.

Is this a known problem to any of you?
Is there a solution?

With my very little knowledge of the internals of the machine, I guess it could have to do with some multiplexing going on with the outs. The use of a filter might be too time consuming, so that the internal timing of the machine gets corrupted. I'm just guessing. :-/

My way around this problem for now is to just not use the 8th output.

Still, it leaves my a little worried, if the corrupted timing might expand to the other working outputs 7, 6, ... if the system load gets more crucial.

BTW: I tried on JJOS3 1.19 (from May 1st) on my MPC2500SE. All cables and ports on the hardwareside of things are working fine.

Hello,
It's a known issue without any solutions at the moment.
From what I read in this forum there's another issue with white noise coming from nowhere sometimes and the way to fix it is go to record mode and switch back and forth analog and digital. It's not related to the issue you're describing though.
You'd say I'm a hater but that's another reason for me not to use OS3.

Do you know if this bug will harm the other outs, too? Or is it limited to output #8?

I already knew about the other thing with the distorted main out. Switching from analog to digital and back is part of my daily routine.

It seems that it's limited to output 7 and 8 :

Please do not set a filter (Filter of Q-link and LOF is also the same) to OUT 7 and 8. (MPC2500)
Sound will be distorted when a filter is set to OUT 7 and 8. (MPC2500)

Rather than letting distortion be heard they should probably remove filters settings for outs 7 and 8.
Otherwise the other distortion bug (analog->digital) is under investigation but it'll take some time before the source is identified and the bug gets fixed.
