Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500

Hey guys I was playing around with my 500 a little bit and I noticed after i would record something and then try to play another chopped sample over said recording it either stops what I recorded to play the sample. They are set to "one shot" and only way for them to play is if I hold it but it takes over what's playing on the sequence. So it's like their mute canceling each other out when I press a pad. What am I over looking here? Thanks all

Change MONO to POLY.

In addition to everything already said, are you hitting "record & play" versus that of "overdub & play". If you are staying on the same track then you want to push Overdub & Play which will allow you to keep adding additional elements over recorded elements where Record & Play will just keep recording over what is there, provided that you are on the same track.

Ok, so I chopped some drums and recorded them to track 1. Now when I go to track 2 and try to record my music sample track 1 will play, but when I hit my chopped music sample to creat a rhythm over my drums it takes over the drums and mutes them out. As soon as I let go of the pad track 1 comes back. Don't I want my chopped samples in MONO? I'm starting to wonder if it's because I recorded my sample in MONO rather than STEREO? I record like this on my 4k and I mean I'll lay a drum on a track then start a new track and do my music samples or viseversa. I'll only use OVERDUB if I wanna layer extra sounds over something already recorded on a track.

Yea I just set mute group to 1 on each sample to prevent them from from running into each other so I can juggle. Unfortunately I have to go to work so I won't be able to play with it till later :( damn you work!!!! :fku:
