Computer sequencer that opens MPC projects ?

Hi,

Some months (or even years?) ago, I had found a thread or article about a computer sequencer that can open MPC projects (maybe it was done by OSJJ team ?)

I cannot find it anymore... Does this project still exist ? If so, is it mature : can I open (and play) all MPC projects on my computer ?

When it was released it was considered as a total waste of time, making the development of the MPC OS slower. It was quickly discontinued.

Now that OS2XL is "finished" I must admit that I wouldn't be against a kind of JJ sequencer app that could load projects and render individual tracks automatically for me

I am going to test it right now...

Does it work well?

If during a 1 year abroad trip, I have no MPC, can it open all my old MPC projects ?

If I were you I wouldn't rely on this software. I don't think many people are still using it and there are probably many incompatibilities. But anyway, just try and give us your feedback. It will probably be quicker than waiting for a relevant answer

I tried, it works but.... not really exactly like on MPC. I haven't checked carefully, but I don't think there are the real effects of the MPC, etc.

... so it's not 100% usable as a replacement of an MPC in order to render tracks.

This looks perfectly weird. Downloading it now! Main concern is that everything has to be in 4/4 but that is not biggie.

ok, i see this is only for PC. i have an old pc out in he shed, i should fire it up and load this jj sequencer up on it and try it out.. i know its a lil ass backwards being a reason user and a machine user, but it might be a lil fun to play around with,. looks like having jjos on a computer..maybe one could MIDI their mpc to their computer and use it as a controller…lol!!

if jj had kept this going there would have been no need for a ren, maybe AKAI paid him to stop development.. here is a vid i made out in my shed with the jj sequencer being controlled by my mpc500. i loaded a program with seq data from my 500 into jj seq and the play stop and play start even worked.. also the note repeat worked as well, didn't demo that in the vid.. couldn't find a mute group, but u can poly/mono a program so there is a work-a-round.. it is a lil buggy, but it sounds just as good as my 500, there was slight latency but my midi interface and computer out in the shed are sooooooo old and outdated..

Indeed, this program could have been more useful for MPC500 users than MPC1000 users.

Too ahead for the times.. What would be the main purposes for people here?

The number one option for me would be exporting stems for daw...or a plugin in your daw with Multi outs per pad.

@Dazastah - I guess I wouldn't use it all the time BUT - I am a junky for different workflows (with everything, not just music). Just looking at something in a less-than-familiar way could possibly change your whole perspective, my MPC shouldn't be an excuse.

I believe having an software / App for current MPCs hardware can only enhance workflow because of hardware stability and better interacting with DAW.
It's not necessary having the latest gear but what really gets the job done (IMO)

"me" using MPC Hardware is not associated with "don't like change, can't get with the new work flow, if it ain't broken don't try to fix it" etc.
On the contrary I work with and spend more time on software and apps than I do with hardware.
I must confess, I bought a MPC2500 (MPCStuff), January 2014 to present, I have never had to reboot, deal with hang or freeze.

I will truely support R&D into such an software.
