Steinberg CI-1 Opinions?

Pretty much already know what to be expecting here but I'm a total whore-bag for small interfaces and I have the option right now to get one for near $50. Just a simple 2x2 interface with no frills, will be my at-home interface for both my PC and Mac (Cubase/Reaper, Logic Pro 9). Not doing too much here, just tracking while in my abode.

Any one here have any experience with this interface? Any words of praise/hate?
If my offer does not go through - I wont' have my heart broken but this thing looks like a nice backpack accomplice.

Just sniped it for $40 (including shipping). Not too bad for a backpack warrior.

Just with the C1, make sure you get the latest driver from the website..(yamaha usb driver)

On a mac, i had to restart twice(after the first install. restart then plug in.. didn't work.. Restart again then it worked.. Strange) After that all good...

Cool. Thanks for the head's up. Couldn't beat $40 for a travel companion! I imagine I'll be bypassing the preamps 96% of the time so this couldn't have been a better deal.

Yep.. Pretty damn cheap... The winner soundcard from steinberg are the ur series.. especially the ur44. It's a perfect companion for the mpc1000 with 6 inputs(4 are mic pres with combo sockets the other 2 are line ins) and midi i/o. It has built in dsp effects(compression eq reverb.and now guitar amps. Compression for rap vocals is a definate winner) The real treat now is the ios support.. They just released a app to control the dsp mixer and effects. I'm getting a small portable rig setup with ipad,ur44 and mpc1000... Using it live... They are built solid too in a metal casing. it's a pretty good deal. about $300 us..

I've had the C1 for a few years and recently realized that it kinda kills the thump a bit, its got a decent sound but for taht low price you cant expect it to be great.

I just bought a new one thats coming in the mail this week, i will record some sound tests for you to compare later this week/next weekend.
