Issue with turntable

Hey,

So I'm trying to get all my equipment re-setup at my new house, but something is wrong with it. When I try and record from a record everything is incredibly quiet, I can barely hear it and the only way to have it even moderately audible is to turn the volume and gain up on everything possible.

My set up is: turntable>Mixer>MPC

I'm very frustrated with this since I've never had any issues with my setup before and for some reason I can't seem to get it to work now. I handled all the moving myself so theres no way it would have been damaged during it.

Do you have the TT plugged into the PHONO inputs on the mixer?
Some mixers also have a PHONO/LINE switch on the input.

I do, and the mixer is switched to phono. I feel that the wires are probably all hooked up correctly but something else may be amiss.

Which mixer do you have?

Numark M3. The turntable is a Numark TT200. I know they're not exactly top end, but I had no previous issues before this. I can hear the record but its just extremely quite and the feedback from turning it up loud enough to hear it nearly overpowers it.

On the rear panel is a switch marked AuxLine/Phono.



Make sure that is set to phono

Yep it is. I'm pretty sure it has to be an issue with the turntable or the mixer, but all the things that need to be switched to phono are.

How are you hearing the final signal while recording?..headphones/monitors? Have u tried isolating each part? Try hooking up just the table and mixer without the mpc ..what does it sound like? Lets start from there. We will do a trouble shooting list...also plug your phone into a line switch and play music..we are going to see if its the turntable, mixer or mpc by trying different things to check each component in the chain.

Maybe take off the system, and put it back again firmly, eventually use contact cleaner for that one, check the needle for dust and tonearm weight.

Also if you got a head-shell mounted cartridge then check to see if none of the wires are loose or if there is damaged to the pins.
