Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500

So I've just recently upgraded to the MPC 1000, but I'd like to continue using the 500 for live performance. I like that the note repeat is not also the tap tempo button on the 500, and its smaller and more portable.

If I create sequences and programs on the 1000, can they be played on the 500? This is without using any effects, maybe just filters and other basic edits like sample level/tune. It would be great to be able to chop on the 1000, but continue using the 500 for live performance.

Just tried it. Seems to work both ways, although it doesn't save any track mutes. I am using JJ OS, can't remember which version off the top of my head, but it seemed to work, although its tricky getting used to the sample placement/pads because there's no way to get them to lay out similarly on both--other than the bottom four.

Thats interesting.

I would think that the 1000 would be better for live manipulation.
Just for the sturdiness.
I destroyed within an inch almost all the function buttons on my 5 just in a home studio environment,
and we're all aware of the pad sensitivity issues.

Although I'd assume that the 25 would be even more good better for the full squares and number pad.
