Not sure what the exact features of the studio are but all MPC2000XL special edition models can be made from a basic 2000XL - you can add a zip drive if you know what you are doing (£50), 8 outs (£200) and an effects card (£250).

Well, according to akai and all the places that sell them, there is a "studio version" and a "plus version" and of course the version that I bought which is the mpc2000xlz. I know that on the "studio' and "plus" version, there are connections that are on there that I don't have. I really don't know what they are.

From the features listed there, the only additions this has over the base model is the output board and a 100MB internal zip drive. In real terms that's about £250 ($400) extra cost. Less if you get the outboard secondhand.

Right, that output board. Would I be able to purchase that board seperately? What advantages would I gain if I had this extra board?
