mpc and triton

hey my 16 levels button on my mpc is not working, and this creates a big problem, with editing my samples, and thangs, does anyone use the mpc just as a midi controller and use the sounds out of there keyboard, instead of sampling them in to the mp, and which way is better, i have the korg triton, so i have sounds and can midi the mp and triton up together.........any help would be appreciated

u can either load programs or u can use an external sound module, in my case my external sound module would be the triton, u have to go to track 1 midi device 1a, etc and than i could set up like a bass sound in track one of the triton and play it from the mp using midi, do u understand now what i am talkin about.......lata

now sounds would be coming from the mp, all sounds would be coming from the triton being triggered by the mp

so nobody knows or has an opinion on whether its better to sample ur drum sounds and load them into the mp, or to just trigger ur sounds from ur external sound module, using the mp as the sequencer..........wow

yo - the best thing to do is go out of the mpc to the triton and back to the mpc from the triton (2 midi cables in / out) then you can set your triton up to play the keys on it.. hints chords etc.

or you can trigger it from the mpc -- but why not have both options... hit record on the mp and play the triton and badda bing you make music.

no one else has an opinion if its better to sample sounds into the mp, or to just play them using the sequencer in the mp....??

Have you thought about trying both ways yourself and seeing what YOU like better?

Sampling every sound you want to sequence from the Triton would be a bit time consuming to say the least.

i feel u there partner, i am mainly talkin about the kicks and snares, and hi hats, and maybe some percussion, the rest i use straight from the triton anyway....lata

i sample my drums into the mpc. All of my drums go in the mpc. If i want a drum from one of my modules, i sample it into the mpc.

My bass sounds vary...sometimes i sample them into my mpc, if i do this, i create a "multisample" basicallly i sample like every couple notes, and assign them to pads, so they correspond with the correct midi note, and Keyboard note.......so i can have my triton hooked up, when i play the bass sounds sampled in my mpc, its the same notes that they would be on the triton. This way if i end up not liking my sample, i can just switch the track from "drum1" to midi 1a or whatever and use a bass sound on the keyboard instead.

All my other sounds come from my sound modules.

If i sample vinyl i sample it into the mpc.

I have sampled vinyl into the triton, and you get a differant "feel" You have to trim and chop slightly differant, so you end up with a differant chop, and flow to your samples.....I end up not liking this much.

I also make entire beats just on my triton, and just with the mpc, and just with my emu px7.

SO dont limit yourself, have it all plugged in, but know how to go from one to the other, so you can try it all out. YOU END UP WITH differant styles of beats if you use it all in differant ways. Like if i want a more east coast sound i sample vinyl, and my bass, and drums all in the mpc.

If i want some more dirty southish, i use my emu alone....if i want some west coast i use the triton. But I mean, its differnt for everyone, just cause i get those style by the way i use my equipment doesnt mean you will...its all about your work ethic and what works best for you.

I AGREE WITH CYRUS AND INFINIT. I HAVE THE 2000 AND TRITON. I USE THE TRITON FOR SOUNDS AND PLAYING KEYES. I SAMPLE AND SEQUENCE EVERYTHING THROUGH THE M.P.. IT JUST DEPENDS ON WHAT YOU ARE TRYINING TO DO. JUST COME UP WITH YOUR IDEAS AND FREAK BOTH OF THOSE MACHINES.
