Mpc setup recommendations. Table, mixer, speakers ect.

Hey,
Im wondering what setups people have or would recommend. I have my technics 1200 running threw the renaissance and some shitty pc speakers out the headphone jack. What kind of money would i be looking at for a decent setup?

I have older Rokits and they sound very muddy. Do a lot of mixing with my shure studio headphones. Heard good feedback on the Yamaha studio speakers. I remember when I first started making music and I was using regular stereo speakers to mix. Thought it wasn't a big deal. I would get it to sound right with the stereo speakers but with anything else it would sound horrible. Humble beginnings.

Back to the beats, imagining what I could do on the Ren if I had audio tracks.

Your right ther older Rokits were too muddy for me as well which is why i didnt get them back then but the 3rg Gens are the Sh!t. :smoker:

I also get true mixes with them with the correct Bass response...Just sayin.
Before them I was mixing with DynAudios....

Dope cheers bros ill be looking into these. Im also wondering about mixers faders n what not, anything i can run threw the mpc or tables? haha pspsounds you got it to a t bro time to upgrade a bit. BDRAKE that shits nice man do you get much use from the keyboard that you cant do on the mpc? And ive just bought a Maschine Mikro off a mate just coz it was a cheap buy, I havent even uploaded it onto my shitty laptop yet as its stacked with shit already wonted to know people thoughts on the Mikro also. The Ren's my first mpc and its a fair bit to get my head around only having little knowledge about it i thought maybe the Mikro might be a bit more simple?

For "sound monitors" you need to do a sound check.


You need to know what type of music is going to be played on it, trough it, in order to have the best sound quality. Because the sound can differ from brand to brand and model to model. You also need to know what type of room setting you're going to use them in. Due to frequency response.


Expect prices starting up from $.250 per sound monitor.


A great option is Yamaha studio monitors HS80m, these are cheap, but made sturdy and sound great, made by a well known company.




I have Genelecs in my setup. I bought these after doing a lot of sound checks.
These also have protective shields.

Not Really. I was using the MPK61 with Cubase5, thats when it really came in handy for me. With the Ren I use it for the keys mainly.

Chillin is right though you should really go to your local retailer and do sound checks and get the monitors that suit your taste and genre of music your making.
I needed more bass without losing true color. That front bass port at the bottom of the woofer did it for me. The mix I have in my lab is the same one I hear in my car or anywhere else. Testing gear out is the fun part so go out and have some fun :nod:
