Is it my audio interface or mpc?

Hey guys I had a quick question. I recently bought a behringer uca222 soundcard so I can record my beats (Mpc 2000xl) into my laptop. I use adobe audition to record my beats into although I also have fl (haven't figured out how to record into it yet). But everytime I record my beats I notice that the quality changes. The highs usually become lower or the drums might sound different which to me take away from the beat. Why does this happen? Could it be the soundcard or is it that i have the wrong settings in adobe audition. I usually record mono incase that matters. And also have an m-audio m-track interface but it only has a guitar line input as opposed to the two left and right inputs on my behringer. Any help would be appreciated. Peace.

What sort of cable/cables are you using to connect the MPC to your audio interface.

What MPC outputs are you plugging the cable/cables into?

The M-Audio M-Track has two guitar/line inputs, not just one.

Im using red and black rca cables (could that be the problem?)
The cables are being plugged into the main mpc outputs.
The m-audio does have two guitar ins but the sound gets extremely distorted when i plug it into both.

Use the line inputs, not the guitar inputs. There should be a way to switch between the two. If you use the guitar inputs for a line level signal, guess what will happen?

It has two Guitar/Line inputs, doesn't it?

Have you tried it with both channels set to Mic/Line, instead of Guitar? (or both set to Guitar)

Are you setting the gain knobs on the M-Track to give a good strong level into your DAW, on the DAW signal level meters, without clipping? (as it is stereo, they should be set to the same level as each other)

Does it make any difference if you turn down the Main Level knob on the M-Track, to turn down the output level from the audio interface?

Which DAW are you using?

Are the signal levels clipping in the DAW when you get the distorted sound?

Are the left and right channels, of the signal from the MPC, panned hard left and right inside the DAW?

Do you have a signal level meter on the output of the DAW that you can check, to make sure that the DAW output is not clipping?
