Mpc Ren off for repairs.

I have also experienced this sound, after awhile it occurs.. I turn the ren off and back on and it disappears until the next time..

try switching over your standalone interface if this occurs with built in interface

Come on!

I know the crackle buddy is talking about. Had this crackle on 2 mpc re n's and also on my new ren. It has something to do with the ren's interface, because my studio doesn't have this problem connected to my focusrite. Ren either when connected.

IT seems to be windows systems,(the asio driver) but if is anyone one having these issues in osx .. (Pre mavericks) Also seems to be a issue if you have a usb3 controller/ports..
I'm getting the same sound issue only with the ren interface... Every other interface is fine...

Hoping it's resolved in the next (driver)update...

Yep.. I hope Akai are on ploytechs back with the cash... I would assume that Ploytech actually write and update the driver... What ever the deal, would be nice to have it with the 1.7 update...

To me it seemed like a simple pod issue. Like older stereo's when you adjust the knob you get loud crackles. Generally louder the the music!

I'm sure they will just switch out my volume pod. Maybe replace the whole soundcard. What ever. Just get it back to me. I miss the broad!

I don't use the akai sound card any way. Just don't want it broken...

The main thing the Ren has Over the MPC Studio is the built in sound interface and so many people use an external interface...

Loving the decision to get my MPC Studio more and more as time progresses. Mainly since it weight a few pounds and fits in any backpack so I can jump on the Busa and roll out.

Sorry to hear my fellow MPC users having hardware issues. Hope its just a few rare issues with maybe a bad run.

All pads are functioning. I took it to Long & Mcquade, the place I bought it, and the guy said it's probably just "gunk and dirt". I bought the Ren in 2012.

Anyone ever have these issues? Ill be surprised if the problem is actually what the dude thinks.. I'm a clean freak and it's not like I use my ren in a sand box lol.

He gave me the option of either them sending it to Akai for repairs or having their local guy that does repairs come pick it up.. I figured Akai would charge a fortune plus shipping fees so I decided for their man to have a look. Anyways just thought I'd post to see if anyone else has had the same or similar problem.

I'll keep posted when I find out what's going on.

After a very long time of not having my Ren since its been sent off for repairs. I finally got an update on it the other day. The dude who does repairs through Long & Mcquade could not diagnose the problem so he shipped it out to Akai.

Akai said the PC board is toast and to replace it will cost $429. So there you have it.. beware - the MPC Ren pc board will randomly sign out.

Wow, that's harsh! That's about half the price of a brand new one. Sorry to hear.

In the EU you'd be covered for that but presumably it's a case of having to fork out the $429 in the US?
