For use with Ipad which is beter MPC Element or MPD18?

Well I've been thinking of getting a new Drum controller and I have been for a while now. At first I had many I was considering but now I narrowed it down to these two.

With that being said which one should I get for use with IPAD?

I know element is good but with the lights on it does it cause a power issue on IPAD? Also which one has better pads and options?

NVM on seond though I think I want the Korg padkontrol lol. Is that one better.

I also wonder if IMPC Pro will work with it.

It's very likely retronyms and Akai are going to use the weird pad layout from the Mpc fly (midi). As long as you use a pad controller where you can reconfigure the midi assignments on the hardware you should be fine. If the controller draws power from USB, that may also be a problem as the iPad will have to provide power through the camera connection kit, draining your battery very fast.

If this app is as good as they make it look I may buy a fly, but I'm not very hopeful after I commented on their YouTube video about time stretch and they deleted my comment. They are very carefully dancing around exactly what the app will be capable of.

I hear you man, but you can can always do time stretch in another app like Hokusai and try to import to Impc pro if it supports audio copy Im guessing but that is kinda shady they deleted you comment.

Also yeah man I hate that weird pad layout that makes no sense. I don't know how Im going to get a controller from another company to work with Impc Pro if I don't get the element. It's going to be torture to have to figure out the configuration to set it to, but i guess it is possible.

Thanks for the info. Maybe I will get the Pad Kontrol if I don't get any info on the element and what the pads are like as far as responsiveness.

You might want to also consider the KMI Quneo. It has the added benefit of being a great controller for Ipad synths in addition to the 16 pads. it can also be powered directly by the Ipad without the need for an external power supply or powered hub (which the Padkontrol requires). The other great thing is that it is light and as slim as the Ipad. It comes with free templates for Beatmaker, Korg iMS-20 and there is also a freely available custom template for iMPC!
