Yo!
I have MPC 1000 and M-Audio Keystation 61e (midi keyboard without sounds and only MIDI Out port). I don't have a sound module. Can I play and record in MPC as I use samples from MPC and the midi keyboard is only to control the sounds from MPC?

PS - I think this guy does exactly what I ask - using only MPC and Midi Controller without built sounds - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pu2kO8Q7mb8

Peace

You sure can. There is a feature called "Auto Chromatic Assign" which will automatically take a sample and pitch it across all 64 pads (Groups A-D). All you have to do then is set up the MIDI between the MPC & your keyboard correctly and you're home-free.

If you take the time to set up a blank template with the chromatic note order and save the program without any samples you can use your keyboard to play any thing you stick in the program. By default the MPC is set up to follow the "general MIDI" settings for drums (think Casio keyboards, etc) so the note order is WAY different. Set it up and then set up your MIDI channels and you'll be smoove sailing!
