Hi peeps, If I insert a sample (eg. a drum loop) into an audio track that is four beats long and I want to make the sequence 16 beats long is there a way to repeat the loop four times or do I need to edit the sample so it is one 16 beat long audio file? :hmmm:

cheers

Not in Audio tracks, as that is not how they really work, in that they are usually for long audio files that are longer than say a few bars. Not that you can not do short loops but if its just a few bars then it makes more sense to just trigger the sample in the sequencer as per normal.

Yeah I do not see why you do not just trigger it 4 times over a sequence as it will give you more control than say a audio track.

Hi,

I don't have 128XL but by looking at this screen makes me think that's not practical.

In OS2XL you can set the same sample at different bars for the same audiotrack :

What you can try to do to see if a workaround could work is :
-create a 16 bars long sequence
-then 4 audiotracks
-then messing with START OFFSET for the last 3 audiotracks

If you use an audiotrack you don't have the drawback to wait for the next event to be retriggered if you stop / start the sequencer.

But on the other hand, audiotracks and program mode are not compatible so depending on what you need to do, triggering with MIDI and benefiting from program mode options could be better.

That's exactly what I was trying to do, but as you say it seems like that option isn't available in 128XL. I hadn't considered the options I'd lose from program mode so perhaps it's not such a big omission...
