whats a great synthesizer to use with the mpc2kxl?

i'm looking for a good but not expensive one so like no more than say $500 american. vintage or new just something good for hip hop production.

if you have a pc get propellerhead's reason. the most bang for your buck and plus you will have $100 left over.

look into the microkorg or the ms2000 or the alesis micron. most of them are cheaper then reason chief. Reason is cool though.

any of the afforementioned products will do it for you as far as Reason goes it can be used as a sound module very effectively along with ReCycle (.REX files program) you can do almost anything with it. I personally like the E-MU line alot though! Alot of people will tell you the sounds are played but they have built in effects you just have to tweak them and the modules are also upgradeable. If you get one with 128 MB you can hold up to 4 ROM chips, that like having 4 of their modules in one box! Good luck to you, hope this helped.

yeah just the micron. thats tru, but u can program a synth with knobs much more easier. Reason is straight though. u just need the pc to run it.

use logic or digital performer if you want to do production you will need recordinng software anyway, it will be a littlle more at first but well worth the investment.llogic has alot better sound quality than alot of the synths you will find under $500, plus theres ways to find plug ins for free.?>?

That depends on what kind of music you want to make. Here are my thoughts: Assuming you're into the rap/hip hop thing, you'd be well served by E-MU's Mo'Phatt rackmount module or a used MP-7 Command Station. If you're into electronic/drum n' bass stuff, check out E-MU's XL-1 Turbo module or a used XL-7 Command Station. These are BY FAR the best value in terms of out of the box professional sound quality and features for the money. Get yourself one of these units and you wll not be dissappointed. You can do some seriously sick sonic tweeking with the Proteus synth engines. Very powerful and user friendly! I own an XL-7 and love it. If you're on an even tighter budget, pick up one of those little Roland SH-32's. One of the best $250 I've ever spent.
