Hate to piss on your bonfire but sebastion from audiobus confirmed that this will only work if the app has audiobus intergration. So this will not work with impc pro :(

Man retronyms is on some BS.

The reason they don't want to support audiobus is because they want to make people use Tabletop for other options and thus they make more money and are merely using IAA as a compromise.

Either way IAA is not too good at it's current development and crashes a bit too much and tabletop crashes like hell too.

I hope retronyms just cuts the crap and let's us get Audiobus integration. Plus we also need multi track export options if it's true we don't have that.

They also should meet these demands before it's too late and their a day late and a dollar short because I'm sure some other app will come out and blow Impc pro out the water if they do not do this. Intua is working on a new app and BM2 is already amazing and supports audio bus.

Don't forget UVI Beathawk, was meant to be released this summer. I emailed them the other day and they said they are still heavily in development and will release soon :D

Really conflicted about iMPC Pro. One one hand it looks freaking cool but if it's not going to integrate with the only interconnection method I use (Audiobus) it'll be a curosity and I'll likely just continue to use Beatmaker 2, which while I have plenty of issues with I am at least skilled up in.

Plus, it smacks of Akai becoming just a branding house - licence MPC to some app maker and get some easy revenue. See, iOS music is developing fast. Gimmicks and toys are not enough now. More and more people want functional, usable software that plays well with everything else on iOS in 2014.

A much more significant app would be to port the Ren software to iOS - imagine an MPC 2500 style interafce skin on the Ren software on an iPhone. Suddenly the Ren feels 'standalone' enough.

I understand that it works with the Element but will it work with the Fly?

Oh, tbh I didn't even remember that but from what I see it doesn't look that awesome but I'll wait for it to drop first before I make that assumption but I wasn't too impressed.

From what I know, is that apps which have the Audiobus SDK implemented (which uses IAA as underlying tech) will publish as nodes to IAA hosts too.

What I got from sebs comment on discchord.com was that they are using IAA as the underlying architecture but that the app has to have audiobus intergration to use the IAA features. I hope your right though, that would be awesome..

Yes it will.

Yeah as stated Retronyms are just a weird developer. When I look at how they want to shove Tabletop down people's throats I always think...you know what...?...you guys stole the entire thing off the Flash based online Audiotool environment. And I'm betting that most who DL Tabletop don't buy the IAPs. They're too expensive and really nothing special. I got the majority of them on a 50% sale and was still like...meh.

And any developer that refuses to support Audiobus when the SDK implementation is free and customers want it, gets a crooked eye from me.

No one knows where the hell Beathawk is. The draw with UVI/Ultimate Soundbank/MOTU is the 24/48 and 24/96 sounds. Their sounds are extremely high quality.

But if you have any of their iLok protected libraries you can from UVI Workstation/BPM/Mach 5 just take any single hit/WAV/AIFF/Reax loop and drag it right to your desktop. It takes forever to liberate them and multisampled patches are a no go. But I find is funny but damn cool that an iLok protected contiguous library file can have 60% of it's content be foldered up so easy. I filled my 4000 with the stuff and use the sounds in BM2 and any sample upload capable app.

I'll skip Beathawk as I bet the sounds will be the draw. (provided Beathawk doesn't become the Dretox of iOS, as it should be here by now  )

Beathawk is looking pretty sick.

It wont be the same as making beats on a real MP and keyboard

I started with the impc and now that i have my mpc 1000 and a few keyboards and I could never go back the impc feels kinda soul-less if you get me

Its not really designed to replace a hardware unit per se. It makes a good compliment and is portable so that you can create kits, programs, beats, etc. while on the go.

As far as being 'soul-less', well that's all depends on the person behind the pads.......

I have to agree. Your sound choices and hands and creative should translate to whatever you're using.

But at the same time you have particular expectations that your chosen tools will have certain functionality aspects that allow you to work seamlessly to make going from different setups as transparent as possible.

I don't expect a mobile app to replace a full blown hardware unit even when adding external MIDI input. But the multiple MIDI Outs are so intrinsic to the MPC ethos that I'm a bit puzzled as to how Retronyms chooses to roll.

Does it mean the app won't be useful? No. But it does show a certain short sightedness if not flat out arrogance on Retronyms part.
