Soldering rotary encoder in mpc 2000xl

Has anyone ever done this..I have found articles and vids but it never gets into detail or it explains how to do it with the assumption that one already knows how to solder. I have never soldered anything in my life but I am pretty good with my hands. I have a soldering iron but I'm not sure if I need to use specific type of solder. Has anyone seen a vid where they video the actual process so I can do what I see them doin? It's a pains Tryna chop a sample without my wheel!!!

chop samples in an external programme then import into the mp thats what i do with my xl. have you got a vid on fixing the wheel ? mines got issues as well
