I don't usually post pictures of my digs, but looking through all these seems so much fun so I do one too

This is from today. The bulk of it is Jazz. 70% 33's, 20% 45'S and 10% 78's

It's around 8,000. Not all pictured. I'll get pictures of the rest when I go back tomorrow to pick them up

WTF 8000?
did you think about the space you'll need for this kind of dig? :)
Look thru some of the boxes to make sure its not crap (just because I saw the Flashdance OST and a Police LP and Billy Vaughn is also not the type of Jazz I can really have fun with. The Les&Larry Elgart tho seem to be a nice record. A bit of HerbAlpertish trumpet but with a much better bass :)

Have fun with this stuff. And please.... more photos.

peace

Yeah there was that few bunk joints, but for real me and two of my mates that helped were looking at each other like..... there is no dollar bin joints in here... There was the few yeah you can see from the picture obviously, but besides that the only crap records outside of those obvious was a couple Sing Along with Mich Millers **** ass (okay.... no one knows how, but all those got dumped over here -_- you find them at least 5 in every box you dig in...) but it's 90% amazing stuff.

In prospective, just from 2 records and a 45 I made back all my money and had money to buy some nice perfume ^.^

So the majority of it tho... Is the illest shit.. There's test pressings in mailers addressed from record company to other recording group, boxes of sealed clear red 45's from atlantic with memos by employees, these wierd bugged out white labels of psycadellic crap, the entire blue note catalogue (orginals), mad brazil stuff, bugged out spanish stuff, non-commercial hawian beats.. Honestly I can't even name all the wild stuff I'm so over loaded.

More pics for sure.

It was all located on 40 acres of shut down manufacturing been closed for 6 years. We had to drive fork lifts from this bay (this is bay 6 of 18 to give you an idea)

I wish I could of gotten more pictures but it was 128 degrees (Maybe more, I literally rang my bra out it was that much work) and these two crazy guys taking care of the buidling were old workers who had worked in there for 45 years each, and we had limited time to get it all out. Plus cameras get you in big trouble out west which is where this was at.

So a 5min drive on fork lifts it took to get to the research and development labs, which is where the records were, loading them onto pallets with my one mate, then the other was in the truck loading as one of the care takers drove pallets back n forth and the other sat with us and even helped load pallets!

There was a hell of a lot more then 8,000. 8,000 was the number just in the first room of the R&D department, but there was another room next to this one downstairs that had another 6,000.

Now here is where it gets really crazy.......... Damn near everything is VG+ if not higher.. I don't even grade at "near mint" just because I dunno. I'm reserved about that sort of thing, but it's like all un-played.. Then the marble 78's, hell even those were untouched. All these Verve 45's, look like they were never even played.

So yeah. I had to get a storage unit, just for these records. And had enough room for some boxes of sneakers n old clothes and one of my couches xD But yeah a few of the boxes on the back wall arent records, but below those boxes of crap are boxes of recordsl, like where you see it says "shoes" those arent records, and the couch aint records. Every single other box, every last container, is records.

Just from the dig.

I just got word of an old trailer on a back lot that doesn't have a whole lot, maybe 4,000 but there rock records. I'm gunna try and grab those tonight. I'm just really exausted and been a bit under the weather. It was a get in and get out situation and this guys who rent these moving truck deals charge so much money :/ but if this guy with the trailer is like the most of them, I'll have to be quick and precise. Who knows, but the end of that dig will show up here.

Nice records by the way dude.

bullshit, absolute bullshit.

seriously, a week has 168 hours. you need 1 or two of them and $5 bucks to have a dig.

all your doing is making excuses.

There was really not even very much mold like at all. There were on the flip side ones that I pulled out and a plume of dust blew up in my face. I actually got pretty sick off that one. But yeah like it's not some gimic the whole having gloves and a respirator.. In many cases that's real. And not even just the records, but the buidlings.

There's a lot of deadly molds around here.

I actually don't use expedits, I just use these things called standards, here's a shot of some of them. Sorry about the picture, I'm not trying to be funny business, I'm just still sick and can't drive down to the storage units to show more pictures of standards without her sitting in front of them, the rest in the house aren't setup yet, not even brought over, only these and were sorting it all. It's always been shelves of crates before upgrading to these. Sorting and cataloging everything. So overwhelming! -_-

And what Bearhead said I didn't even see that till you quoted em haha! Digging is super fun :) Plus find tons that aint public knowledge. But yeah your not trying to dig just to impress people who do, so I've got some respect for that. I dunno for me half the fun is just everything, the adventures and storys, getting out and interacting with people.

word, i was being 100% serious about the mask thing haha

i was going through a heap of real dusty joints a few weeks back, each time i was flipping a record it was shooting a film of dust up my nose. Had to pretty much start to flip through sideways and try avoid the stankness

Those standards look nice. So does your lady friend :)

I have to ask, do you cat and org. them all as you sell them, or are you just into sorting your vinyl like that? Ive been meaning to add my collection to discogs but looking at your new haul i feel like i should stop making excuses - if you can do this lot surely i can do mine!

Yah I really dig standards. I'm into organising yeah like none of us was before we started doing these outrageous digs lol

I just got my system down so yeah going into sales. You just find ways to make it enjoyable (: get good music goin, some nice cool drinks just have a blast with it (:

But what we all do is listen through the records first then sort but catch something dope you break offto mess with it, so its not just an entire day on them. So never keen on selling records but was stuff that had value and people want, i clean the sleeves, add plastic outers and new paper insides (if they are blank or not a special one.
You can do it (:

Gizabeats wrote:Damn dog! That's some climb over records to look at more records shit right there... I'd have my work calling me after a few days wondering if I was ever coming back if I had all that to dig through. Jealous...

Don't be, you can do it too, it's real easy. Like check it out, were just a bunch of kids. But what we do is present ourselves with old school values, and stick to our guns. We travel. Do what we gotta do. And the prices? Dirt cheap. You just ask people, you got any records? Call storage places, ask if they have any left behind property, and you can even get specific, ask for records.

I mean you can go as far to going door to door, which I've done, and a lot of people oddly enough were excited to see them being used and loved!

Just have to get creative. The normal means, only get normal every day records I think <3
