MPC500 as MIDI controller - sending the wrong notes??

hey there,
i've got some strange troubles with MIDI notes: just found my old MPC and thought it'd be pretty cool to use it as a MIDI controller for Ableton Live. So i connected it and Live detects it and everything's fine, EXCEPT... i can't figure out how to assign the MIDI notes, that i want the MPC to send to Live, to its pads. i found the "default assign" dialogue in the MIDI/SYNC settings on the MPC, but when i change the notes, it doesn't have any effect, Ableton keeps receiving the "standard" notes. did i overlook something?

If you are on an MPC track that has a Program assigned to it, it uses the MIDI note numbers as assigned in the Program.

If you are on an MPC track that doesn't have a Program assigned to it, it uses the default assignment.

Do you have a Program assigned to the current track when trying this?


Are you using an MPC500 or an MPC5000, the thread subject says MPC500, but you have posted it in the MPC5000 forum?
