Don't know why but that MPC reminds me of mechas from early 80's anime.

Will follow up this post with a few pics in a month or two... not ready yet. :-D
Many things have changed in my setup.

In the past few months i've sold the Minitaur, the S950, 2000XL, almost sold the ASR, sold the tape machine, will be selling the Mackie desk soon, etc...

I've kept: ASR, MPC60, SP1200, MPC500, JV2080, DP Pro, Turntables, KX88 master keyboard, Monitors.

I've bought: Moog MF 101, DBX 160A, Midas Venice 320.

MPC60 and SP1200 are away for the next 4-6 weeks. MPC60 gets broken screen fixed, SP1200 is getting serviced and a recap.

Can't wait...

@Lamp - I had the same game! The volleys of missiles blew my mind the first time I played. Grew up painting the miniatures for Battletech. Nerd lyfe in da haus.

I can't say much yet. The MPC60 and SP1200 are away since two weeks and will be for about a month more... i've only ran some drumloops from vinyl through it so far. It takes away some "dynamic", but for most loops it also adds some very nice "knock" to the drums, dunno how to describe it best... it sounds quite nice, especially if you go wild with the gain boost. Most likely it will sound nice for parallel compression.
What i really like about it is how simple it is. I'm not a technical guy, i mainly was looking for a comp that has the least number of buttons and knobs, and will sound good on most things... for this it seems perfect and not overly expensive (got mine used).
I can't really compare it to other compressors. I've used a dbx266xl, which sounded about as mediocre as its reputation, software/digital compression from my ensoniq dp pro, and the comp of the mpc500... the dbx160a sounds a lot nicer than those, but it may be down to me having no clue what i'm doing... it's easy to find something that sounds good if you only have 3 knobs.

And to keep the thread going with some pics (picked up the midas tonight)...

Thing is huge, but it was an awesome deal and i thought more channels never hurt... I have no idea yet where and how to build the setup once i get the 60 and SP1200 back... what you see in the corner is just a temporary small setup for fun.

Favorite position would be in front of the couch. I did this a few times and it's awesome to make music, but you kinda lose the living room space. I think first of all i need some kind of desk or two... :WTF: :-D

I figured something out that'll work, surprisingly!

SP1200 and MPC60 can be on the left side of the keyboard on a small table. I can't wait to hook them up. I've only listened to records so far, the room isn't treated, but holy cow... this desk sounds nice!!! :smoker:

The funny thing is... I got it from a quite big event company, they sold out stuff they rarely or never use anymore. If it's true, they bought it from another event company a few years ago that went bankrupt and needed cash. The first company used it one time apparently. After this it was used three times for a small local jazz festival, which now is canceled for next year, so they won't use the desk anymore... :? :-D

It's like new, and i've paid quite a bit less than i've paid for the mackie 1640i (which is for sale now btw  :-D ), AND it has double the channels...

AW man I'd love a 32 channel Midas.
I've been struggling with just the 24 channels of my Allen & Heath GS3 for a while now.
I really need 32 channels for all my gear.
The Midas is also very compact and crams a lot of channels in a much smaller space, especially with those 4 stereo channels.

Nice one Jibber.

I'd rather NOT have white pads but I'd kill murder and maim to own that 3k, I'd REALLY like it to be a white version of the 3kle.
