all about your comfortable workflow, I guess. I do real-time synth stuff all the time.
And if I want to save some precisely tuned patch, I can write it down or take a pic. also, in response to Tom's ninja'd post, if I'm looking back at something from months ago, perhaps it's time to try something new with it, not resume exactly where I left off.

I believe some parts like the two oscillators share sets of knobs. Though yes, important ones like filter cutoff are dedicated.

probably. I was just talking from my experience with the minibrute. not saying it's some definitively right method, just one guy's input into the op's question.
Haven't looked into direct comparisons with the bassstation, because I'm not looking to get one, I'm happy with my minibrute right now.
