Never fails.

Once or twice a month. Figured it is when I access a USB connected synth via the mpc when it happens so have hard wired via DIN that synth as it makes the MPC unstable otherwise

I have been using it live, via rearoute and reaper.. So two programs at once running together...

i dont use vsts Inside the mpc software..

I use it to run sequences and live finger drumming....

i run this setup on a win 8.1 laptop...

The actual ren audio card is not used as the driver doesn't work nicely with windows 8.1 so im using rme fireface uc for sound. On 64 sample buffer.

The only crashes i've had was with one prject.. By turning the data wheel too fast on the filter page... never been able to replicate it again....

shiiit... my MPC's for 20 odd years never crashed & this Ren with 1.6 on a Mac Pro 12 core 16 GB ram is choking daily.. if i add a plugin synth to the mix its glitchin out massive.. even on 512 buffer... id love some help figurig out why this is so damn weak as a a DAW??

That's very odd... Unless your not telling us something (like your running a sequence that has 100 tracks all running at once!!1) Or you have some insert plugins that are very very hungry on the pad inserts...
You'd have to be very specific on what your running..

ie 12 pgms.. in 12 tracks.. each pgm has at least a inserted effect on 16 pads per pgm.. etc

maybe 20 tracks, 4 programs, only1 AU, using the MPC wub, bank etc to suss it.. all UAD plugs ( causing a pain due to resetting settings to default upon opening project..?) few waves (maybe 2-3 different types.. no pad inserts..( sends it off track to Sub outs, & no conrtol in mixer either with pad inserts..)
less than 32 pads filled per program, usually 8-16.
CPU in MPC is like 70-90% while mac shows nothing happening, but 130% of CPU in mac activity Monitor..?

when i installed the initial install send the cd was expired or somethin?

25 years in this game & ive never had this much rouble... (PT, Logic, Live for decade or more..
been on the 1000 since my MPC 60 burnt down 14 years ago..
all i wanted was some more RAM & access to droppin my UAD arsenal on the drums before exprting to the 1000..

I'm using Win 7 and Ren 1.6 and experience crashes quite regularly, close to one a day with heavy use.

I put this down to certain vst's and so now work just with the Ren software and compile the whole tune with that and relegate plug in use to Reaper where I mix everything via Rearoute.

Crashes have reduced but are still present and come at the most random, mundane times which make no sense. For example I do some intensive, detailed programming on filters and lfo's and no issue, no crash then I go to click track mix and crash, bang wollop!

Reset needed.

When I load large sample libraries it's always prone to crashing too. This one is very re-creatable.

I'm hoping stability improves with future updates.

I would say once in three months at most. It's so infrequently happening that it is difficult to name numbers.

@Almost Lazy, Hmm Not saying it's not the mpc software, rather how the mpc software treats uad plugs..

REaper has options and boxes that need to be checked if you start using uad stuff. So reaper needs to be configured a little different so it can run uad plugs stable..

Mpc software doesn't have the options at all, so it would be configured to run optimally with native vst and au plugs. I would hit up the Akai community board if no one here has the answer...

I've been using the Mpc ren as my sole soundcard along with an apogeee rosetta via spdif, with a brand new cpu with win7 installed on it, and to answer the op's question, my mpc ren crashes its asio everyday, multiple times a day a simple on/off via mpc ren power button resets it, but it's completely aggravating.

Lately, every goddamn time. Goddamn, AKAI.

id be happy to have some specific settings to set, i have had no love frm any forum regarding UAD for the last 3 weeks.. cant find ay previous questions regarding the combination of the softwares & UAD have stated they are not looking to support the MPC software.. i find it very hard to believe that im the first to find this problem?? are there no other UAD users out there or ate they all running inside oter DAWs? i just wanna process my drums so i can thro them back to my 1000 for gigs.. damn these updates dont deliver either so i wont be holding my breath.
