2000XL Hinged LCD Screen Stuck Open

First post here, just got a 2000XL. Greetings all!

So, the 2000XL's wonderful, hinged LCD screen is now stuck open. There's a little piece of plastic that seems to be preventing it from closing again. If you see the picture below, you can see this on the left side.

Any tips on how to fix this? I tried gently, but firmly, pushing it and then likewise with a screwdriver to help it a long, but no luck. And clearly I don't want to bust this thing since the screens cost almost as much as the machines themselves. This is particularly annoying because I'm going to have to go under the hood to install a compact flash drive and the 8-out expansion.

So long as nothing is physically broken, you can sort the LCD housing and hinge mechanism when you do the other installs. The whole of the LCD part is just as easy to access as the rest of the machine once you get the case and front panel off.
