Hardware FX units ?

I am looking at the https://www.eventide.com/AudioDivision/Products/Harmonizer%20Effects%20Processors/Eclipse.aspx.
It is way more than say the MX200 MX400 by Lexicon, but I think the Eventide one has a lot more in it and probably sounds heaps better.
Anyone else use external FX units? and I am thinking more than just a reverb unit here, more the multipurpose go to rack FX for big lush verbs and filtered/pitch shifted echos.
I find a lot of the modern tekno/trance/goa needs huge verbs that are controllable and my FX units are no where close.
I do not want to hear about plug ins at all either, just hardware thanks.

For about the same as a Lexicon you can get a Korg Kaoss pad which has tons of effects and additional (but more complex) ways to control them. That might be an alternative to consider. I use it a lot to filter things and add reverb and delays to stuff. It's not as straightforward as a standard rackmount effects unit but it does the job.

yeah i have played around with them a little bit. They are good and I would not say no to one But they do not sound as good or have the depth of parameters I would like in this case though unfortunately. And actually I am not a fan of RCA outs and ins either. I actually would use it more as a midi controller if I had one.

TC fireworks seems good to as there seems much goodness there, and things like digital I/Os that can be routed as inserts in the FX chains is cool.

There is only one place really in my city to hear these units and they do not have some of them anyway. Another option is a VST host rack, but think that is less ideal compared to dedicated unit.

Those companies are making pedals to, but you end up having to just buy heaps of them for every effect and have to patch them. So those FX racks kinda have all the pedals in them to and it means you might as well get the rack i think. just a pedal effect you think, then it never ends, and you end up with heaps and wanting more. less power problems to with a FX rack unit, also they usually have recall to and that is a must.

What about Electro Harmonix Cathedral? I was thinking about buying it myself. But now Im buying a ASR10 which also has good reverbs (not controlable though).

the EHx cathedral is just a reverb box, not the same kind of versatility as the box blip mentioned. (though it's quite versatile, from what I gather, in the realm of reverb).

yeah i rate Electro Harmonix gear highly, and have not seen that cathedral before, but its just a pedal really and like I said above its not what I am looking for. Good to see stuff I have not seen though, so thanks, that was cool.
