Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

I have a regular CD player hooked up via RCA to MPC to try to take samples from CD but hear nothing and levels aren't moving. Anyone know of a reason for this? I have RCA jacks Red/white(R/L) plugged into mono-mono 1/4" audio adapters from Radio Shack and get no sound.

Do you know what the problem might be? I thought this was right but I hit play on CD and record on MPC and nothing..it seems as if they are not connected or commnuicating right. Any help greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

I have a CD player hooked up to mine just like you described and never had a problem. Does your cd player have mulitple outputs? Check that and also try a different cable and adapters.

I use to do it that too but I really don't why yours isen't working maybe you have the inputs in the out instead of the input(and that's not to insult you, I did that in a recording session and that artist looked at me funny). But I don't kow what you're trying to sample but If nothing works than just put the cd into your computer and rip the sound and cut it up in sound forge and save it with the MPC2k editor or if not just simply save each file as a wav and then you don't lose any sound and also you can edit the sound before you put it into the MPC. I know it's the long way but you want good SOUNDING music not just a loud beat.......Just my two cents...

Thanks all! I actually never figured out why it wouldnt work with the CD player I was using, but I dug up an older model and it went right to town so its all good. Thanks for the responses tho - for sure.
