Good time to buy used, bad time to sell?

I sell gear on eBay like many people do, but eBay does not take 10% of my profits, they get 0%. Same applies to PayPal. If these companies get a share of your profits, something is seriously wrong.

Also the 10% final value fee, doesn't apply to items sold for over £750.00 like sp12's, sp1200's, MPC3000 and some MPC60's. The maximum final value fee here is £75.00, so if it sells for £1500 the fee is only £75.00 which represents just 5%.

So if you're selling on eBay, the higher end gear is more profitable as the seller fees are proportionately less, as the example shows.

Anyway good luck with your sales jibber, patience is often required. Selling things in a hurry or to finance other purchases often leaves the seller in a vulnerable position which can become desperate.

Best time of year to buy used...just after Christmas.

Crazy as all hell. I just called guitar center to trade in my MPC 2500 excellent condition, 128 Mb upgrade and a 320 Gb hd. Was interested in renaissance. Guy told me he'll sell it in store for 500 bucks and split the profits. Basically, he will give me $250.00 for my upgraded mpc 2500. I reached through the phone to double slap him with a bugs bunny glove and hing up on him. Must take me for a clown. These mahines arent worth a damn. Mpc-stuff offered me $650 bones tho. I might take that.

I got an Allen & Heath Xone:62 from the pawn shop for $85 with a 30 day warranty. Little less than excellent condition. Part of me is thinking of the crazy profit I can make if I flip it and part of me is still amazed of how crazy a come up it was when I've been looking for a good DJ mixer for a while now.

That's even crazier than the Vestax PMC Pro 05 II i got for 100 bucks.

The xone92 still costs almost 1500 here new.

Gave up on selling the mackie, nobody wants it even for 500 bucks. Gonna donate it to a youth center.

Yeah the online prices list the xone:62 for $900 new. I guess like somebody said, thw real líder is the person who buys brand new. Long as you buy cheap, you can always make a profit.

I eventually sold the mackie for 350 swiss francs... roughly 400$, not even... what a shame. However, seems the gods are already paying me back... not 100% sure yet, but i may have found a 2nd SP1200 in mint condition for 1000 bucks...

Found it for sale on a swiss site from the french part of switzerland for 1'097 swiss francs. After writing the guy he said it's still available and the price is correct. I then sent him an email asking if i could pick it up next weekend... to which he answered that he is now residing in London, UK... and that he could ship the SP...

Honestly a bit scared now... sent him another email asking for more info and a picture of him holding a paper with his email address written on it and SP1200 in the picture. Also told him i would need his full name, address and bank name and address for a transfer... let's see what comes next...

The seller tells me he will ship it with an international transporter, and i will pay cash to the transporter when the package arrives at my door where i can test everything first and send it back immediately without paying if not satisfied.

This sounds good to me. Told him my address and that he should commence shipping... let's see!

What can happen if i don't pay any money before i have the Sp in my hands (if the dude isn't a fake)?

My friend said he had the same happen with a sax, dude said the same thing and that he is in london. Next thing he said was he couldn't send it like that and would need the money in advance, turned out to be a scam. I'm expecting the same from this dude maybe... We'll see. I'm not going to send him money, don't worry.

If you can open the box then give the money then it's cool.

^That's exactly what i'm planning to do... if there ever will be a box arriving at my door... i was even plannig to open up the SP itself before paying...

Doesn't that scam have to involve some sort of pre-payment?

How would it work as a scam if you don't have to pay anything before checking it out in person?
