Having the MPC Software sit on a computer screen and not offer some method of doing this is a fail.
Right now we still have the classic MP workflow of a pattern for the different sections of a song but have to put them together with the old school MP song mode.
Instead we should also have the ability to throw say 64 bars up and work on various sets of bars in a loop mode to define and build the various sections of the song.
Even if it was such that you were simply dropping markers that the MP would use to define where patterns stop and start.
This would allow the MP to show them the same as it does now.
As it is now song mode is more of a visual representation and all you can do is drop sequences into a song in real-time you can't actually work on the elements.
A change like this would be pretty easy to incorporate without disrupting the MP workflow people know and love.
This already exists in MPC software...
You know any sequence can be longer than 2, 4, or 8 bars...
Change bars to 80 for example. First Bar to say 9 and Last bar to say 16. You can have loop mode on or off and move course to Bar 9 (or before If you prefer) use mouse on screen or fast forward on hardware.
You can work within any 'range' of your sequence like this... so you can have X number of bars that consists of the entire length of your song, and work within any one long pattern in song mode
According you what U mentioned is a fail and you saying "Even if it was such that you were simply dropping markers that the MP would use to define where patterns stop and start."
