Where is the step edit?

I was lightening fast with my 1000 and can't seem to find the step edit on this thing. I've been looking for a while and still now luck.......How would I change the Duration length of a note use my jog wheel? I don't want to point and click.....Any input would be greatly appreciated. I tried searching the forum but the search function is temporarily unavailable.

I am sorry if this isnt relevant I have a mpc 5000, and IDK if they HAVE step edit on the 1000. on the 5K, u hit mode and one of the pads (its listed on top of it).

for the note duration, if I understand the ? is handled by the Trim function. u have to move the cursor to end or beginning, then the job wheel will highlight what to keep, Also the Q link sliders can be used. Then chop it to the right length. If this doesn't help I will see if I can answer a follow up.

I know for a fact that there is a step edit for the 1000. By note duration I am referring to adjusting the length of what was played after recording the sequence. This was especially nice when I fiddled with the decay of a sample and I needed to tweak it ever so slightly to make sure it was just right. I would also be able to copy and paste events in this window.

Hooyah! I found a variation of step edit within the software! Man oh man I would have been peeved if there was nothing like this available. I couldn't find anything on the net or the book but I just clicked around. If you're looking at the main window there is a "show list" tab to the left of the "undo" in the tool bar close to the top of the screen. If you click on that you will be able to view all of the events on that track as well as edit them. Including the duration of notes! This is nice if you aren't a fan of the click drag approach. If anyone has a better way of doing this I would still love to hear about it! Holla!

It is called the Event List Editor, added in the latest/1.6 update.

Hardware - Press SHIFT-STEP SEQ to enter the List Editor.
Software - Click on the Show List icon at the upper left side of the edit area.

I don't think any MPC has a better step sequencer, or step editor, then the Ren.

Yeah, you're right Ren and the Studio too.

I own the Ren, so I spoke from that perspective ....

I understand. I own Studio and even being an old hardware head, admit that I do most in software. I don't mind being latched to laptop. Hell the laptop/Studio combo takes up less space than my old 3000 and 5000 and I can run the combo without batteries as well as enjoy the nice screen real estate when working with samples and sequences.

I still looking forward to 1.7 but that is another story

Huge sigh of relief when I saw an all too familiar screen pop up when I pressed shift + step seq!
