Changing Sample Bit Rate

I see I can sample in 16 and 24 bit. Why not 8 bit?? How I want to make the change to 8 bit samples. Will OS updates include an 8 bit feature? Any suggestions on getting that 8 bit grime? Any input would be appreciated!

No MPCs have recorded 8 bit samples, so they probably don't expect/think anyone would want to.

Maybe re-sampling through a bit reduction plugin?

I am definitely now running my samples through a bit reduction plug in when I want that lo fi sound. Nothing special just a factory plug in that came with my pro tools. I'll insert a url at the bottom if anyone wants to check it out even though I'm sure everyone knows about it lol. It comes in handy when I want to give it a whirl.

So I created a patch phrase of a drum loop and created a 4 bar sequence out of it. Afterwards I would slice individual drum hits and extract them into a new program. My .pp and the drum hits are all in the same program. For some reason my drums hits are mute grouping the patch phrase loop even though there are no mute groups on the hits. I'm going to try and chop the original file to see if that fixes the problem, which I'm sure it will. But does this mean I can't chop the sounds of a patch phrase loop? Should I only chop the original file?

your program is set to mono, set it to poly so that samples don't cut each other off, then put mute groups on the drums if you still want them to cut each other off

The Ren has a bit reduction tool. Go to sample edit pick your sample then go to edit and scroll until you come across bit reduction.
