That was always the purpose. Put it where it's supposed to be, if not you run the risk of things running afoul.

there is but a single power supply in the mpc 4000 and that means anywhere in the unit there is a certain voltage that it comes from the same source. the only concern is total power draw and they leave a wiggle room in the design spec. this fan isnt adding anything more than stock load however. so go ahead!
