Greetings forum. I'v recently jumped onto jjos2xl on the 1000. I have a question about simult which I couldn't find answers to.

When I set a pad to trigger another via simult (say a kick triggering another kick with different filter settings etc.) if I then 16 levels-velocity the main pad it will only trigger the 1 sample. Is this normal and if so, is there a better way to layer drums on jjos?

Cheers

Hello Sidd, welcome to MPC Forums. You ask a good question for your first post there, and I think I can answer it. yeah, no is the short answer. The long answer is that going into 16 level mode stops it from memory. Im not able to check right now, but I think others can confirm. Of course your program has to be poly, as you know and its set in the GGPE mute group screen there and when you use 16 level it throws out the programs pad assign mode and this as well. So cycle, and pattern don't go into that mode and get ignored.

There is the edit function to layer in the sample window, now with invert phase, this is the samples though, not program.

You could make simult 16 level but its not the same as hitting a button. But you could make a template and the use it to mimic 16 levels with this set up - You have to make a new blank program and then make a 1 bar track with the simult pads you want hitting at the start, lets just say A1 and A2, now save that as a pattern of one bar and assign to the pads 1 to16 and set transpose setting for pattern to pad, and velocity of the pad level over 16 pads and assign to the track that has the program you want to simult,. you can save this to and load it when you want so not to remake it again and again. yeah that should work and give you simult with two sample trigger but only really pitch now I think about it. :Sigh:
oh yeah you can hit two pads at once to since your a noob  just jokes. do you want to use pitch or velocity usually when you do this?

Thanks for the answer bliprock. The main reason i wanted to use a simulted pad in 16 levels was to play out a kick pattern with ghost notes and keep seperate samples on the exact same timing when quantise is off without having to copy events etc. but this is no big deal i could just use one kick to get the pattern down and then use simult2 to bring in another during playback or just copy events to another track.
Cheers for the insight
